Stockholm Composer Weekend

Stockholm Composer Weekend – with Sweden in focus. When the huge Stockholm International Composer Festival had been around for 20 years, yet another regularly recurring festival for new music was born. Between 2005 and 2024, an annual Composer Weekend was held each spring, as a complement to the autumn Composer Festival. This festival has since been replaced by Composer of the Season – a selected composer whose works are featured throughout the season as part of the regular concert programme.
The ideas behind the Stockholm Composer Weekend resembled those behind the Stockholm International Composer Festival, except that the spring festival focused on composers active in Sweden.
Otherwise, the concept was the same as the initial Composer Festival: to thoroughly reflect the artistry through concerts, conversations and encounters in events related to the festival.
