Artist and programme change. Pianist Yeol Eum Son is replaced by Anna Vinnitskaya, who hereby makes her debut at Konserthuset.

South Korean pianist Yeol Eum Son has been forced to cancel and is replaced by the Russian-born pianist Anna Vinnitskaya. Based in Hamburg, Vinnitskaya is a professor of piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. The Washington Post has hailed her as a true “piano lion”, and Gramophone Magazine describes her playing as unforgettable.

In her debut at Konserthuset Stockholm, Anna Vinnitskaya presents a programme ranging from Ravel’s finely chiselled impressionism to the blazing virtuosity of Rachmaninoff. She opens with three of Ravel’s most beloved piano works: the classical Sonatine, the gently elegiac Pavane pour une infante défunte, and the sparkling Jeux d’eau. Scriabin’s Third Piano Sonata, with its intense emotional range and daring harmonies, offers a striking contrast.

After the interval come Brahms’s Three Intermezzi, Op. 117 – intimate pieces that draw the listener into a world of lyrical focus and introspection. The concert concludes with Rachmaninoff’s Variations on a Theme of Corelli – in which a simple Baroque melody is transformed into a vast pianistic cosmos.
