Blurring genres. Classical and contemporary expression meet when jazz pianist Joel Lyssarides and Konserthuset Stockholm organist Johannes Skoog come together.

Johannes Skoog is, from this season, Konserthuset’s organist. He was awarded both First Prize and the Bach Prize (for the best interpretation of works by Johann Sebastian Bach) at the 2024 Canadian International Organ Competition, the world’s largest organ competition. He has been appointed Court Organist by H.M. The King and has performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls and cathedrals, including Notre-Dame in Paris, the Philharmonie de Paris and King’s College, Cambridge.

Jazz pianist, composer and arranger Joel Lyssarides is a multiple award-winning artist. He belongs to a generation of jazz musicians who move between genres, with an international career that includes numerous collaborations. He has released several albums, most recently on the prestigious German label ACT.

In this concert, they come together in a programme in which Bach, Brad Mehldau and, above all, Joel Lyssarides’s own compositions form a unifying thread. New music, improvisation, and music for piano and organ in new arrangements bring together classical tradition and contemporary expression, as the boundaries between genres dissolve.
